The Walrus aimed to make a mark and be a forerunner on a side of the city that is not often associated with well-designed cafés and exciting food offerings. The brief was to lift the mood of the customer, produce a unique design that reflected the restaurant quality and adventurous food on offer. The Walrus, a memorable name, helped inform the design direction and ultimately create the Nordic and contemporary fusion of the interior and the considered branding we designed. Highlighted by its simplicity, the interior boasts leather upholstery and banquettes, timber chairs, tile treatments and plants (all real) to create a welcoming environment, with the food on the plate as the focus. The project specified Australian designed products throughout from the Inkster Pendant lights by Inkster to the TBC1 by Adam Lynch and Woodstack chair by Nomi chairs.
